U9 Academy (2012)

academy pie chart
U9 intramural players have the option to play extra soccer in addition to their intramural games. Our U9
Academy (formerly developmental) program will participate in the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) this season.
  • This is a program for U9 intramural players who want extra soccer
  • You MUST be registered with the club's intramural program to take advantage of this program
  • Everyone who signs up is accepted into the program (no tryouts)
  • This program will not replace current intramural team rosters or schedules. This program will include extra practices and extra games.
  • You play teams from other clubs in the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) travel program. Half of your games will be played in West Islip; the other half in towns across Suffolk County. Scores & standings will be kept.
  • The cost is $195 (which includes academy style training, LIJSL team & player fees, referee fees, and paid professional coaching) after promo code sent in email to all U9 intramural players.
  • U9 Academy registrants will need to purchase a blue travel jersey. This jersey can be used in the travel program in the years to follow. This jersey needs to be ordered through Murphy's Sport Shack in Babylon and might take 6-8 weeks to get in stock. Details will be emailed once you've registered.
  • ALL communication will be done through email and the SI Play app on your cell phone.
  • The schedule can be found a few weeks prior to the season at
Make sure you select the correct age group as the division, then click on the schedule tab.
Our U9 intramural schedules are built around the U9 academy team schedules, giving players an opportunity to attend both intramural games and U9 academy games.
  • At the time of registration, you will be required to upload a passport style photo of your child, which will be used to generate player passes that are checked by the referee prior to each game ensuring that only registered players will be on the field. Uploading anything other than a passport style photo will delay the creation of your player pass.
  • You will need to supply a copy of birth certificate, even though you may have done this already in previous years. Our club needs to provide proof of birth date to LIJSL at the time we register the teams, which is shortly after the registration deadline. Failure to provide a copy of the birth certificate results in the club not being able to obtain a player pass.
  • An informational meeting is usually held a few months prior to the fall season. Parents of interested players need to attend this meeting, as it addresses how this program is different from the intramural program and addresses expectations.
  • The U9 Academy program is supervised by our Director of Coaches, Mike Reilly.
  • A minimum of 10 players per team and a maximum of 14 players per team are required, so if more than 14 players register it'll need to be a minimum of 18 to form 2 teams. Therefore we urge you to register early so you don't end up being player #15, #16 or #17 as with 15, 16 or 17 registered players we'll have too many to form 1 team, but not quite enough to form 2 teams.
