FIFA Rules Will Apply Unless Amended By A Specific Rule Below

Teams participate in the tournament at their own risk. West Islip Soccer Club, Tournament Committee and the Town of West Islip cannot and do not accept liability for any injuries that may occur during the tournament. The act of participation by a team, player, coach, parent and/or spectator is a release by them of any and all claims.

All players must be born in the year of their age group or a later year. All teams and players must be properly registered and affiliated with their state or national association. All teams must present a team roster at registration which is certified by a Club designated officer.

All teams must have player passes available at all games. Tournament passes will be issued at registration for qualified players without LIJSL or other league passes.

  • Coaches and players must appear on the field of play, ready to play, regardless of weather conditions. Failure to appear will result in a forfeit of the game.
  • Games will be played rain or shine, except for severe weather or lightning.
  • Games are considered complete after 10 minutes. If a game is halted before 10 minutes have lapsed, the Tournament Committee will decide the course of action.
  • In case of cancellation due to severe weather conditions, the Tournament Committee reserves the right to reschedule or offer other alternatives.
  • In case or severe weather conditions or impending severe weather conditions, the referee and/or the Tournament Director or his/her designee may reduce the length of the game by fifty percent.
  • Only the Referee, Tournament Director or his/her designee can cancel or postpone a game. Every attempt will be made to reschedule the game. Any game which can not be rescheduled will be considered a 1-1 tie.

Guest Players
All teams are allowed up to 3 guest players.

  • Uniforms must worn.
  • In cases where uniform colors conflict (in the judgment of the referee), the home team will change uniform colors.
  • All teams must have alternate uniforms available in case they need to change their jerseys.
  • In the case of conflicts the home team will be asked to change jerseys first. ****(THIS IS THE SAME AS #2 ABOVE)***

The exchange of team emblems is strongly encouraged at the conclusion of each game; please exchange on the side lines so the next game can start on time.

Team Field Position
Both team’s players and coaches must take a position on the same side of the field. All fans must be on opposite side of the field. No one is permitted behind the goal.

Start of Game Kickoff
The designated home team will start with the opening kickoff and the visiting team will pick the side of the field they wish to start. At half time the teams will switch sides of the field and the visitor will get kickoff.

There shall be no protests. The judgment of the referee cannot be contested.

Lines persons
Unless requested by a referee, no lineperson is needed. If linespersons are requested by referee, then each team must provide a linesperson.

Substitutions may be made with the consent of the referee at any stoppage of play. A substituted player may reenter the game with referees permission.
If a coach comes out on the field for an injury, the player must come out of the game until substituted back in play.
Cards and Ejections
A player, coach or spectator receiving a red card will be ejected from the game and may not participate in the next scheduled game. The Tournament Committee further reserves the right to eject any player, coach or spectator from the tournament for flagrant violations of the rules of play.

Slide Tackle
No slide tackling will be permitted.

Failure to Appear & Forfeits
A team shall be allowed a 5-minute grace period after the scheduled kick off time before the game is awarded to the opponent. A forfeited game shall be declared a 2-0 score.

Cancellation of Tournament
Cancellation prior to tournament weekend: All entry fee money will be returned administrative less expense incurred to date. Cancellation during tournament weekend: No entry fee refund can be made for cancellation of the tournament in whole or part due to conditions outside the control of the hosting club, i.e. inclement weather.

The tournament committee reserves the right to decide all matters pertaining to the tournament, including interpretation of the rules and regulations.
